Product description :
Pochampally Material Description (Origin & Importance):
Pochampally fabric, also known as Ikat from Pochampally, originates from Bhoodan Pochampally, a small town in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana, India. This region is world-renowned for its unique double ikat weaving technique, where both warp and weft threads are tie-dyed before weaving to create intricate geometric patterns.
Importance:
Pochampally weaving is a symbol of India’s rich handloom heritage. The fabric is known for its vibrant colors, durability, and fine craftsmanship, often used in sarees, dress materials, dupattas, and home textiles. It has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, highlighting its cultural and economic significance. By supporting Pochampally textiles, we help preserve a centuries-old craft and sustain the livelihoods of skilled weavers.
